What it means to be a Nanny –

To be a nanny is not just being a “baby-sitter”.  You play a huge role in the family’s life.  You will be the child’s role model!  They will look up to you, learn from you and grow with you.  It’s more than diapering and feeding – you will have an enormous impact on their life!

Here at Central Iowa Nannies, we are looking for positive people who genuinely love children.  I am looking for people who are caring, energetic, creative and fun.  Children need to have someone who will provide them with care, safety and respect.  They want someone who can get down at their level.  Children need to be read to, taught, played with, and it’s important to do arts and crafts, fun cooking, and outdoor activities too.  Let’s face it, the require a lot and so do we at C.I.N.

They get to be with their nanny who becomes their role model.  Someone to learn by, play with, laugh with, and grow with.  No more worrying about who their teacher will be – you chose her.  And when the nanny shows up at the door and the kids’ eyes light up and get excited, you’ll be thankful you chose a nanny.

Screening –

Once you have completed your application and it’s been reviewed.  If I feel you would be perfect for a family, I will call you for a phone interview and then from there I will determine if I need to schedule a person to person interview.

At the time of your interview, you will be asked to bring the following:

• A current photo (snapshot) for your file.
• Your driver’s license
• Your social security card
• Copy of your proof of insurance
• Also, bring any other medical certificates if available.  For example, first aid or CPR cards*

*If you need to be re-certified or certified you can call the West Des Moines fire station on 35^th and Ashworth at (515) 222-3652 to sign up for a class.  It’s free to West Des Moines residents or $10.00 donation.

At the end of the interview if we are going to continue with the screening process, I will need you to sign a release/permission form for me to obtain your:

• Background check
• DHS child abuse check
• Education check
• Driving records

I will also be checking all personal and professional references.

 Top Requirements to be a C.I.N.

1. Must love kids!
2. 18 or older
3. U.S. citizen
4. Valid driver’s license
5. Must carry auto insurance
6. Good driving record
7. Preferred 3 child care references (church counts too)
8. If you don’t have a 2 year college degree, you must have references
9. 1^st aid and CPR a plus, but I will assist you in getting training if needed.
